Why YOU Should Listen to Classical Music
Share
A while ago, we shared some of the benefits of playing classical music—language development, higher test scores, and higher IQ among them. But you don't have to take lessons to reap the benefits of classical music—just listening to it has been observed to have some amazing side effects, as well!
Here are some of the benefits that come when you listen to classical music (sources and suggestions for additional reading at the end of the post):
Lower blood pressure
Pain relief
Better memory
Improved productivity and creativity
Lower levels of stress hormones
Better sleep
Stronger social relationships
Enhanced concentration
Better overall mood
... and this is just a few of the benefits listed! (If you're interested in the science, most of the articles below include links to the research studies that made these claims.)
Besides all the ways listening to classical music boosts your health, listening is also a super important component of learning to play an instrument. Students who listen to classical music have a better understanding of style and harmony and are often more excited about practicing their instrument.
