Collection: Herrburger Brooks Pianos

Herrburger Brooks pianos were produced during the late 19th and early 20th centuries by the Herrburger, Brooks & Company piano manufacturing firm, which operated factories in New York and Chicago. The company became known for building solidly constructed upright and grand pianos during a time when piano ownership was rapidly expanding across American homes.

Founded by Charles Herrburger and his associates, the company focused on producing reliable instruments designed for both household music making and institutional use. Herrburger Brooks pianos were often built with durable cabinetry, responsive actions, and a tone suited for parlor performance and teaching studios.

During the early 1900s, Herrburger Brooks instruments were sold throughout the United States through piano dealers and mail-order catalogs. Many of these pianos featured decorative cabinetry typical of the era, including carved panels, elegant veneers, and period-style case designs.

Although Herrburger Brooks is no longer manufacturing pianos today, many of their instruments still exist and are frequently encountered as antique upright pianos from the early 20th century. When properly restored or maintained, these pianos can continue to serve as meaningful musical instruments and family heirlooms.

Today, vintage Herrburger Brooks pianos are often appreciated for their historical character and craftsmanship, particularly when restored by experienced piano technicians.
