The Morales Family Piano!

I’m Becca Morales. My husband and I have been married almost 12 years and we have four young boys. In 2020, I inherited my grandmother’s piano. It turned 100 years old the year that it was passed down to me. Our treasured piano has moved many times throughout its century of life. From California, to Connecticut, to North Carolina, to Arizona, to Utah. Wherever our family went, the piano has always come with us. Brigham Larson Pianos helped me move our beloved piano three years ago here in Utah, and I remember the piano mover telling me that they restored pianos like mine. I thought how wonderful it would be to honor our family heirloom with a restoration like that. But with a young family, other expenses have had to come first. My husband’s family is from Guatemala, and we attend a Spanish ward. Being immersed in Latino culture has helped me realize what a privilege it is to receive music lessons. There are only a handful of people in our ward who are able to read music, and even less who can play the piano. I’m so grateful that we can offer this gift to our children. My oldest just started piano lessons a couple of months ago. I’m so grateful that we’re able to pay for piano lessons, and that we have a piano where he can practice. I don’t take these things for granted like I did when I was younger. It would be so wonderful to have our piano restored. I can only imagine what it must have been like almost a hundred years ago when my grandmother first received it. I would love to be able to add a restoration to our piano’s story as it is passed down to the next generation.
