I had a few piano lessons when I was little, and always enjoyed playing music so as I got older, I taught myself by reading through the lesson books we had. I enjoy playing for fun still. I’m the current primary pianist in our church and keep the family entertained at parties and holidays. My children are now getting old enough to learn and have the same love for music, taking lessons and enjoying playing on it in their free time as well, whether from a book, picking out tunes in their memory or creating their own ideas.

I had ancestors immigrate from Brazil. When they moved to the United States, they wanted a piano for their home. They were able to purchase a used piano. That piano has since been passed down to my grandmother, then to my aunt’s, and now to me. I believe I am the third generation to own it. When my grandmother had it, it just had a clear stain on the oak. She had asked her brother to repaint it for her, so he tried his hand at woodgrain painting. When I received it, my father helped me to get it tuned up a bit more and unstick some keys so that we can enjoy it in our home. It has definitely seen some years, with chipped, paint, and chipped keys, but still enjoyed nonetheless. I would love to see it get the restoration that it deserves with all the joy its provided for us.
