I bought a used upright kawaii for my son’s lessons 10 years ago. He would go practice very reluctantly and his 2 year old sister would eagerly go sit next to him and press the keys which would annoy him. He would tell her to go away but she kept going back to the piano. I would find her sitting at the piano her tiny legs hanging off it singing nursery rhymes I had sang to her as a baby like twinkle twinkle little star and itsy bitsy spider while pressing random keys. She would tag along to her brothers lessons and sit next to him while he complained about not wanting to play. One day my son’s piano teacher asked me why not let her have 15 minute lessons when her brother comes since she’s so eager to participate. She was only 3 but I said ok. Eight years later she performs competitively at the local music festival in south Florida and every year she has competed she scores the highest Superior scores in all her categories and is invited to compete in the state competition in Tampa. Her categories are elementary solo, concerto and patriotic pieces. This past February for her birthday I took her to see a performance of her favorite concerto by her favorite composer Prokofiev concerto 2 1st movement at the NY Philharmonic in NYC. Her dream is to play this specific and difficult concerto as an adult in a great hall. She also wants to attend Juilliard and we got to tour the school when we visited NYC this past winter.

This piano has survived my two children. She was already used when I purchased her for only $2000. She holds up well but lately sticky keys indicates she ended her time. I cannot afford a new piano for my daughter to follow her dream of becoming a renowned concert and solo pianist.
